I know this page recommends to open the website in a new tab, but I'd like to open it in the current tab. How may I do that?

Right-click in the frame area: This Frame > Show Only This Frame

Hopefully, this add-on will allow you to do that. It adds a command to the right-click context menu. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stay-current/
