My email provider supports OAuth2 however it doesn't work in Thunderbird. Is there a way I can configure Thunderbird to use OAuth2 with my email provider? I realize that for OAuth2 to work, there must be a client_id and possibly a client_secret. I can obtain a developer credentials for my email provider. How can I get these into Thunderbird?

I've configured Thunderbird to use OAuth2 with my gmail account and I'd like to do the same with other email providers.

Thanks, George

At this time Thunderbird supports OAuth2 only for Gmail accounts.

Can I add support for my email provider by providing the necessary update to the ./mailnews/base/util/OAuth2Providers.jsm file? I'm happy to submit a bug and patch if that's the correct process.

which email providers? We were trying to do same for Yahoo. but they removed the options to get appropriate app credentials to their mail. So it is on hold until they get over their hacking scare. We are guessing that is why they closed it down.

I think I have already been there. Thanks for the offer, new contributors are always welcome. I have CC'ed a couple of folks that might help you get the show on the road. But there is more to it that just the hack you done. Updates to the account wizard, ISPDB will also need to be done, and an official Thunderbird secret acquired.
