Ctrl+c+c stops working in Firefox

I use Lingvo dictionary to translate words. Select word, press Ctrl+c+c and it shows translation.

It stops working on Firefox today. Pressing Ctrl+c+c do nothing.

Ctrl+c still copies text. Ctrl+c+c still works in all others programs except Firefox. I didn't change any option in Firefox or Lingvo resantly. I tried safe mode.

What can cause these behavior? May be some new security options? How can I check this?

Chosen solution

It seems to be not FireFox problem.

I am using Just Gesture for running programs and something change in Windows security yesterday, now all programs that starts through it have restrictions because it was unsigned. They like running in their security box and can't communicate with other environment. That is why FF can't use Lingvo and can't start desctop links.

I will upgrade my version (just found they have new one after a long time).

Jscher2000, thanks for help. This time Microsoft screw something up. I disabled all their security and upgrades but they still managed to change something without my permission.

I'm not sure I understand how you press this keyboard combination. You hold down Ctrl and then press c twice without releasing Ctrl?

Does the other keyboard shortcut of Ctrl+Insert+Insert still work in Firefox? (http://lingvo.helpmax.net/en/troubles.../keyboard-shortcuts/)

Yep, you are right. I use this combination for many years. Same story with ctrl+ins+ins, I tried both.

New information here. When starting FF through desktop link - everything works. But if starting firefox just by its icon - these combinations are not working.

Also, desktop links stop working when browser is running already. You click link on desktop and nothing happens, it doesn't open itself. But it works when browser is shut down.

Definitely something happened. It can be Firefox or Winodows update,

Hmm, desktop shortcuts and other Windows-style favorites should still work in Firefox 44.0.2.

Before troubleshooting further, have you shut down and restarted Windows since this problem started? Interprocess communications issues sometimes involve behind the scenes system plumbing that fails silently...

Could you check the command line of your Firefox icon? Either:

  • Desktop shortcut: right-click the icon, choose Properties
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, right-click Mozilla Firefox, choose Properties

Windows normally will select the Shortcut tab. If not, go ahead and click the Shortcut tab.

The Target line should not have anything after this part:

  • 64-bit Windows, standard 32-bit Firefox: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"
  • Otherwise: "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe"

If any command-line switches are listed after that, clear them out and save your change. To test, you can either:

  • Desktop shortcut: double-click the icon to launch a new window
  • Pinned taskbar icon: right-click the icon, click Mozilla Firefox to launch a new window

Any improvement launching shortcuts in Firefox?

Some users have reported a faster fix for a pinned taskbar item:

  • unpin the current icon
  • go into the Start menu, right-click Mozilla Firefox, then Pin to Taskbar

Any improvement?

Yep, upgrading Just Gesture solved the problem.

Btw, if you on Winsows you should check it http://justgestures.com/ , it is one of my favorite software.

Be damned MS for messing with my computer, just killed 1 morning hour for nothing.
