Thunderbird doesn't have any problem connecting to my other gmail accounts, but it wont connect to my new email address with the default gmail settings. I attached a screenshot of the manual config settings for reference (and blocked out part of my email and name for privacy). I was thinking that maybe the problem might be coming from 'webmail' being a part of my user name. I'm not sure. Does anyone have any ideas?

And the password/username that I entered is correct. I verified this multiple times.

look at this q I think you have the same issue. As Gmail changed it settings and uses their security on NEW accounts.

login to https://www.google.com/settings/security on this account and allow less secure apps

And its NOT unsafe Tbird uses correct IMAP settings.
