I am trying to fix this from a month now, I reinstalled firefox around 15 times now but wont fix it. It takes time to start firefox, and when It starts it hangs with the messages and becomes 'not responding' forever.

I am a basic user and wont be able to follow any hi-fi technical steps.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files in the Firefox profile folder that store session data.

Rename (or delete) the sessionstore.js file and possible sessionstore-##.js files with a number and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox profile folder.

Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost and you will have to recreate them (make a note or bookmark them if possible).

It did not help, firefox is hanging again, not starting, not responsing.

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer some files from an existing profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over the problem.

I don't understand this profile thing, I tried following your steps but would not open any profile manager. I just want use it for browsing, can you not fix it automatically from your side? some firefox diagnostics and fix software. If not I don't have any option but stop using firefox. this has already taken lods of my time.

Hold down the Shift key (On Mac the Options key) while starting Firefox to start in Safe Mode. See if the problem if still there.

hello junnares, in this thread some other affected users have reported that the problem might be related to the fingerprinting software on their pc: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/980011

Thanks for your reply but I don't have finger print facility on my Lenovo.

Hi Junnares,

I'm replying to your question, because I had problems with scripting for months, and all solutions commonly posted in forums did not work for me.

Here is what did work:

Uninstalling all Adode products (Reader, Flash, etc.) Uninstalling Java

using CCleaner to clean my registry and computer of residual files

Restart and Ccleaner again to make sure everything is gone.

Now Firefox is running great!

I reinstalled adobe reader (not the problem)

So its either java or flash install that was causing the problem. I just reinstalled Flash so we'll see if problems start again. Haven't reinstalled Java because I don't need it yet, and because I suspect that was the problem.

Anyway, try this if other solutions don't make the problem go away...

Good luck

UPDATE: reinstalling Flash caused a lot of hangs (up to several minutes on some pages) until I changed the settings to "ask to activate" in the add-on options.

But so far no script errors (looks like that was a Java problem)
