threading: exclude imap folders from Conversations

I use Conversations / threading of mails a lot. Before, I used an POP account set-up and there it worked perfect.

Now, out of necessity, I use a IMAP set-up, and threading has turned ugly. The mails I look at are in the IMAP Inbox, and when finished go to local folders.

The problem is my IMAP account has folders like Sent and All Mail, so any thread shows the mails in those folders too. This results in many duplicate listings in the Conversation.

Can I somehow tell Thunderbird to not include IMAP folders Sent and All Mail ? (Just like it doesn't include Spam and Trash.)

Thanks !

That indeed would be a pain. A started point is unsubscribe from the All Mail folder.

All gmail emails both sent and received (and archived if labels are removed) are stored in the 'All Mail' folder and you only see those emails in a more conventional way eg: Inbox and Sent because gmail applies a type of filter labeling to show them as folders.

Conversation view - right click on email and select 'Open message in conversation' A conversation view means the whole conversation that is both sent and received and it has always been that way. Not all replies contain the entire conversation in a received email as they may have been removed or edited. Not all threads relate to a reply, but may relate to comments placed in a common question, so technically do not have sent emails.

I would advise that you do not subscribe to see the 'All Mail' folder as it is only a complete duplicate of everything. Then it cannot be included.
