Named account folder v. "Local Folders"
In left pane: My created/named account appears (first); below that, "Local Folders" appears.
My account already has automatically created "Drafts" and "Sent" folders, now suddenly folders with the same names have appeared under the Local Folders heading.
1. What is Local Folders? I have never had use for it, since everything is done per my named account folders. 2. Why are SENT and DRAFT messages suddenly be routed there rather than to the correct account folders? I made no such change. 3. How can Local Folders be deleted or negated?
Thank you.

Hi Hikermann, Local Folders is a place to store messages locally without being on a server. Additionally, since you can set up Thunderbird to access and post to newsgroups without setting up a mail account, Thunderbird needs to store those sent messages somewhere.
By default, your Sent messages and Drafts for your email account are not placed in the Local Folders account. To verify where sent messages and drafts are being stored, you can check your account settings, in the Copies & Folders panel. For more information, check out Configuration Options for Accounts - Copies & Folders panel.
Lastly, no, you cannot delete Local Folders. At least not easily. ☺️
