My foxfire browser seems to be stuck somewhere with an open file which I cannot find. I have shut the computer down, I have unplugged the computer from its electrical source, still will not open. I tried to reinstall, but it told me to close this 'file', again, the one I can't find. How do I find this file so I can close it? I am now using Edge which I do not like very much. I would rather have foxfire back. I am running Windows 10.

Chosen solution

I spent several hours on solving this problem, however, it finally came to me to use Revo Uninstaller. I was at last able to completely remove Firefox and reinstall. I have spent hours requesting a solution to this on other forums, and no one was able to be of any help.

Maybe there is a hidden download window still present somewhere in case you have downloaded this file.

Did you recently download a file or visited a web page with this file?

Does anything come up if you search the history, either in the sidebar (Ctrl+H) or in the History Manager (Library; Show All History)?

If that is the case then see whether delete this page or "Forget About This Site" works.

If you use "Show my windows and tabs from last time" then check for problems with sessionstore and delete the sessionstore.jsonlz4 file in the profile folder with Firefox closed.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

I am not sure the correct way to go about this - kinda of a newbie to computers - but my answer included how to solve this problem. Thanks.
