Is there a way to disable the backspace keyboard shortcut or have Firefox verify if I actually want to go back?

Sometimes I hit 'Backspace' to correct something without realizing the text box has been unselected and lose everything.

I know sometimes I can hit 'Forward' jumping back to where I was and my text will be there. But that doesn't happen on all sites/textboxes.

You can set this pref to 2 on the about:config page.

  • browser.backspace_action

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
