Random new windows pop up then disappear. This happens constantly on my Mac Laptop & Desktop. Firefox version: 56.0 (64-bit). This started happening about 2 weeks ago. At first I thought my Mac Air was in need of a fresh install, but then my iMac desktop started doing it as well. They aren't pop up ads, they are just new browser windows that glitch on then off every 30 seconds or so. I live recorded it happening as you can't screen shot it when they pop up. Then took a screen shot of the recording and attached it. It's super annoying because you can't type while the while the window is popping up. In the attached screen shot the Instagram irefox window is the one that's popping up. (if the image actually attaches?)
Chosen solution
It was Xmarks, constantly trying to sync, but failing to populate the dialogue box. Xmarks disabled. No more pop-ups.

Could you make out where or what those windows are?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
You can look at uBlock Origin as a replacement for Adblock Plus to see if that works better.
Firefox 52.4 Windows 7 and Windows XP: about:blank windows randomly pop up after 10-20 minutes. Mine don't disappear, they multiply. if I close them one at a time, then Firefox will suddnly close and a crash report window appears. This has happened on two separate computers.
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

This report is far too old to be of use.
Ok, so what do I do? The windows keep popping up, and each one increases memory usage until hang or crash.
Do you have any crash reports for the last week?

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no
Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
