Editing/Renaming Bookmarks Folders feature lacks in bookmarks context menu; it needs to be made introduced as is available in chrome-chromium based browsers.

The categories of Bookmarks in the Firefox Browser are: 1. Bookmarks Toolbar;2.BookmarksMenu; 3.OtherBookmarks. There is no feature in the Bookmarks(Right-Click)Context Menu to Rename or Edit the Bookmarks Folders in any of the Bookmarks categories with the result that if one has to Rename or Edit a particular Bookmarks Folder to make corrections(like spelling), modifications, additions etc, one cannot do so.The only option available is: Make New Folder;which does not serve the intended purpose to Rename or Edit the already existing/made Bookmarks Folder. Such a feature to Rename or Edit the bookmarks folders is available in other Browsers like, Google Chrome, all Chromium Based Browsers(SRWare Iron.SuperBird,Torch, Comodo Internet Browser, Slim Jet etc; and many others like Opera, Maxthon, Vivaldi, UC Browser). I have been using Firefox Browser since 2009; and have acutely felt the lack of the above stated feature in it. My humble request & suggestion to Firefox developers is to kindly make good the above stated deficiency through an appropriate Updated Version of the Firefox Browser so as to make it a really ideal Browser above all others. I hope that my suggestion is quite descriptive without any ambiguity. Hoping & eagerly awaiting a positive response. Thanks!

Chosen solution

The right-click context menu works in the bookmarks sidebar and in drop-down list cases (Bookmarks menu and "Show your bookmarks") to edit the properties. In the Bookmarks Manager (Library) there is a special 'Details' pane where you can edit the properties of the selected item.

Hi

If you right click on a bookmark or bookmark folder in the Show your bookmarks drop down and select Properties, you will be able to rename that item.

I hope this helps, but if not, please come back here and we can look into a different solution for you.

You can change the Properties (including the name) of a Bookmark or Tag in the Details (Properties) pane at the bottom of the right pane in the Bookmarks Manager (Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks: Shift+Ctrl+B) after selecting an item. To change the name of a folder you need to open the parent folder via the left pane to make that folder appear in the right pane, so you can select it and see the name in the detail pane. You can rename a tag by selecting the Tags folder in the left panel and change the name in the Info pane at the bottom right. You can make changes to a Bookmark in the Bookmarks menu drop down list or in the sidebar (View > Sidebar > Bookmarks, Ctrl+B) via the Properties entry in the right-click context menu. You can open a bookmark in a tab and click the blue highlighted star in the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and see in which folder a bookmark is located.

Thanks for the replies and suggested solution which does help to Rename or to Edit the Bookmarks Folders. But the point remains that why not such a feature should be available in the Bookmarks Right-Click Context Menu itself directly instead of accessing it through Properties feature. Is not the way out suggested in the replies a bit cumbersome? The Bookmarks context menu carries nine active (Bold) options/features and one muted (Paste) one. The option/feature to Rename or to Edit any particular Bookmarks folder can be introduced simply as Rename or Edit in the context menu itself as is the position in other Browsers as cited by me. The respected worthy contributors & developers of Firefox Browser may kindly consider the issue raised and suggestion made by me in this perspective and try to do the needful through appropriate future updated versions of Firefox. It is quite ironic that I have been puzzled for the last eight years in the matter until I have across the solution given in the two replies above, but even the same is not quite satisfactory and helpful.Thanks.

Well, the solutions suggested do solve the puzzling problem that I faced over the last eight years; and I have been able now to Rename/Edit my Bookmarks Folders. But the process of Renaming/Editing Bookmarks Folders in Firefox Browser is rather cumbersome as compared to Google Chrome & Chromium based Browsers. Would any Firefox support community member kindly endorse or repudiate the issue raised and suggestion made by me in my previous question so as to remove my all lingering doubts in this matter. By the way , I gratefully thank all those worthy members of Firefox Support Community who helped solve my problem. Thanks to All!
