TB: Missing folders in Local Folders

I backed up my emails to Local Folders -> [email protected] and in doing so, created Inbox and Sent.

At a later date, I did another back up but I made a mistake: instead of copying my Input and Sent to Local Folders -> [email protected], I sent them to Local Folders -> [email protected] -> Input and Local Folders -> [email protected] -> Sent respectively, this gave me an Input and a Sent sub directory. The directory structure now is .....

Local Folders/[email protected]/Input Local Folders/[email protected]/Input.msf Local Folders/[email protected]/Input.sbd Local Folders/[email protected]/Input.sbd/Input Local Folders/[email protected]/Input.sbd/Input.msf

.... and the same structure for Sent.

This isn't a problem on its own, but the directories are not being displayed in the client and so I am unable to tidy them up and remove the sub directory. How can I get them doisplayed, please.

Thank you in advance.

Chosen solution

Hey christ1, thanks for your relpy.

I did download the addon but haven't got round to playing with it, but I have resolved the issue.

I renamed the files, and subdirectory files Inbox(.msf) and Sent(.msf) to _input(.msf) and _Sent(.msf) in the filesystem and restarted TB and the renamed folders appeared. I then tidied up the sub directories, right clicked the _Input/_Sent folders and renamed them them back to Input and Sent.

Everything now looks good.

It's strange but early on when trying to resolve this issue, it wouldn't allow me to recreate Inbox/Sent folders within TB, saying they already existed, but I could rename them!!

Anyway, resolved for me and I've passed on my experience to someone else with lost folders.

You can use this add-on to import messages from the misplaced folders into the correct folders. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/importexporttools/

Once this is done, close Thunderbird, and delete the misplaces folders in the file system using your file manager.
