I have private browsing as default. How can I open a normal window?

Normally you have FF in privatebrowsing=false and to start an new priv-window you do shift-control-P. I'm in the opposite: I have privatebrowsing=true but sometimes I want to store history => I need a shortcut to open a regular window (non-private). Thanks.

You can use an extension to get Private Browsing mode support per tab.

METHOD 1:

  • Open FF
  • Type "about:config" in the address bar.
  • Search for "browser.privatebrowsing.autostart" in the search bar.
  • Toggle its value to "True" and restart Firefox.

METHOD 2:

  • Click on the Firefox button > Options.
  • Go to the Privacy section.
  • Select "Firefox will Use custom settings for history" to unlock additional options
  • Check "Always use private browsing mode".

  • You will be prompted to restart Firefox.
  • Click on OK to validate.

Thanks Muhammad, but it is not my question; I already have browser.privatebrowsing.autostart=true because I want to work on private browsing 99% of the times; but sometimes I need to work saving history then my question is ... How can I open a FF window in non-private-browsing mode from a FF configuration with private mode as default? Thanks.

When your ff is working in secure mode open another firefox browser by just clicking the same icon on your desktop and then from the settings of the new browser use the normal mode. This will result in working of two firefox with different abilities. Hope you got the answer

You can't! Private Browsing mode isn't made to work in that manner.
