They are now all updated to the sync date instead and my history of when I added a bookmark is lost, very disappointing...Any way to fix this?

Fortunately though I used folders in my bookmarks and anything in the folders is still history intact.

Also my browse history is date F#$$d also all my browse history even that "6 months old or older" is now dated last week when I joined sync.............no happy with this.

HI cmyachtie, Yes, Firefox Sync and ICloud sync currently are not compatible. This may be what is causing the duplicates. The add on Bookmark Deduplicator can help the immediate fix. However as for the crashes, the signatures do not have a bug associated with them and there are little comments. However there was mention of an antivirus that may be causing this. If this is the case further troubleshooting for crashes caused by antiviruses:http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Issues:_Firefox_Won%27t_St...

HI cmyachtie, Can you please take a screenshot of the following for further investigation:

  1. Open up the Firefox Menu button on the top right
  2. Click on History
  3. Click on "Show all History"
  4. From the View menu select: Show Columns > Most Recent Visit and Last Modified.

Both columns now shown should have different time stamps. A screenshot showing the same date may be necessary to create a bug. How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Another place to check is in about:cache. From here look for a website that is also affected by the sync and we can investigate from here, thank you!

I need to clarify, in my OP I am talking about the history dates of my bookmarks not the browsing history. Hope the screenshot will explain:For instance the "Recent Bookmarked" list shows bookmarks that were marked I don't even remember when but definitely a long time ago and not at 6:22AM this morning. Also the Bookmarks that ARE NOT placed in a subfolder are all date corrupted.

The About:cache shot is also included here. Browsing history works good. I have since turned off the synch as it also slows down Firefox and frequently crashes. Also if it matters, one PC runs Win 7 and one Win 8.

There are multiple folders for Recently Bookmarked (3) and Recent Tags (3) and also an Unsorted folder that isn't a system folder (it has a regular folder icon) in the Bookmarks Menu folder showing in the first screenshot.

Did you ever import an HTML backup that might have failed or were those also added by Sync?

I don't think they were caused by synch but by importing and merging bookmarks from several PCs over the years I think, never really paid attention to it till now and noticed it the other day as well and have since deleted all but one folder of each.

edited:

That was a few days ago on the Win 8.1 PC and now FF crashes each time I try to do anything with bookmarks, including bookmark any webpage. On the Win 7 machine I still have the 3 folders .....think will leave that as is.........LOL

If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more recent crash reports that have a "bp-" prefix:

  • bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx

You can find the Report ID of recent crash reports on the "Help > Troubleshooting Information" page (about:support).

  • Click the "All Crash Reports" button on this page to open the about:crashes page and see all crash reports.

If necessary then you can open about: pages via the location/address bar.

See:

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

Also on my Win 7 PC now I have this in my recent bookmarks folder, as if I was not fast asleep at 3:00 Am on 10/16/2014, plus have not visited these sites for over a year !!!!! Does this Synch actually happen while the PC is asleep and/or hybernating? Because no one was at the controls at that time......

After some more detailed investigation of my bookmarks, have found that the have triplicated. IOW have thee bookmarks of the same bookmarks in my bookmarks now, three folders of the same set of bookmarks etc.

I have tho PC's and one ipad air that were synched and I suspect that FF synch and iCloud synch don't work well together............
