I am using an Apple Mac and for some reason since yesterday I am unable to open new browser windows by pressing the + sign on my top bar can you help please
I did download the new version of Firefox 2 days ago up until then I was able to open the browser windows at the top of the page by clicking on the + sign, however if I need a new window now I have to for instance go onto facebook then click on an advert which will open a new browser page and use that?

Which + sign? Do you mean the new tab button or the green button on the title bar? The new tab button does not open new windows, but new tabs.
At the top of the page I have one line (dark Grey) which has my Apple symbol and then file, edit, view etc etc... the next bar down has my Traffic lights Red,Yellow and Green which has my shows which windows I have open i.e facebook, hotmail etc and at the end of these tabs there is a + sign which I normally press to open another window... then below that I have the www line which at the moment is showing Mozilla Foundation (US) https:// etc etc
Its the + that I normally click on in the middle line which I am referring to.
I am an oldie who does not understand the difference between tabs, windows, browsers etc if necessary though I can post a picture of the screen

Having two versions of the same program may cause problems.
windows; When you tell the computer to start a program, it will open a "window" for the program to work in. That same program may open other "windows" if it needs to.
browsers; this is a program that communicates to other computers sending and receiving data, information, and so on. Some browsers are well loved by their users while others just get the job done.
tabs; Using browsers as an example; You are in a window. From here you decide you want to look at something else. But you don't want to lose the first window. There are two things you can do. 1) Open another window. This would be separate from the first window. 2) Open a Tab. This will open a window behind and part of the first window. This makes it easier to go from one to the other as the tabs on the window are displayed next to each other.
It could be the work of one of your add-ons, or even add / mal-ware. Look thru your add-ons list and make sure you know what each one is there for. Also, check the programs that are on your computer
Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder Linux:
- Ubuntu Unity {web link}
- Xfce: Applications Menu category sections
- options depends on the package manager and the desktop environment
Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.
Thank you for your help on the above question eventually I went into Library via Applications and saved my bookmarks into HTML then deleted Firefox, then re-installed and reversed my bookmarks and all is fine now I am able to open a new tab etc, happy lady thank you.
