I have some kind of app called icanfindthis.com or Search This. It shows magnifying glasses on some but not all websites . I can't find how to get rid of it.

This app will link you to a Yahoo page explaining what the item it appeared on is. For example, I was on a page at npr.org about the South Carolina Supreme Court and an adoption case. On the picture of the child in question is a magnifying glass with a mouseover link that says "Search Supreme Court." If I click that link it opens up a new tab in the Yahoo Search engine retrieving results about the Supreme Court.

I have not seen any apps, extensions, add-ons, etc that match this thing's name or description. Since it seems to consistently link to the Yahoo search engine, Yahoo is my next place to investigate. I just wanted to ask if anyone else had encountered this, and if they managed to remove it.

Thanks.

It sounds like you have a third party program that has taken over your search engine, home page, and/or the default new tab page. Fortunately, this can be remedied easily:

  1. At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP), and then click Add-ons. The Add-ons Manager tab will open.
  2. In the Add-ons Manager tab, select the Extensions panel.
  3. Select the toolbar you wish to remove.
  4. Click the remove button.
  5. Click "Restart now" if it pops up. Your tabs will be saved and restored after the restart.

After Firefox restarts, install the Search Reset Tool. This will remove the rest of the traces of this program from your Firefox.

Waka_Flocka_Flame, it looks like you were right. It was an app called "Safe Saver" of all things, that I got with a coupon website. No more magnifying glasses!
