How can I activate/emulate slide shows of .jpg images in Hotmail?

I cannot play slide shows of .jpg images which are attached to Hotmail messages. Searching the web in general and this site in particular seems to offer no solution even though some searches of the web showed the problem and the only solution offered seemed to active Silverlight, which is installed, and the Firefox list of plug-ins shows it enabled. Obviously not the answer.

Is there an add-on or plug-in which will make the slide show operate roughly as it does if the Hotmail is opened using IE?

I am composing this on a Vista system. The same condition exists if using XP.

Thanks.

I am not certain which change made the difference. I did not change/check after each add-on/plug-in update. There were so many, and it is kind of tedious, so I could see it taking a full day that way. But everything is working correctly on the slide shows now.

I do apologize for being so lazy and wish I could name the offender, but it is clear that it was not Firefox per se.

I appreciate your responses and thank you for them. Since both replies indicated the pathway, I am not flagging one or the other as the solution but will flag this so folks know the solution lies in the thread.

Again, thanks.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Note that the Silverlight shows as "5.1.10411.0" in the plugins list.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
