When I leave my E-mail(yahoo),then the yahoo main page comes back as a default home page, but I do not have it set that way. I have another(focus on the family)site as default, but I also downloaded Firefox(my preference) as Browser(right??).So it's been that when I start the computer, the screen saver comes up(just some dumb random screen saver),then I purposely click the Mozilla logo to supersede the yahoo "Installer"(what is it??),and I get THE FOX:) :} :)...BUT NOW...when any site is closed,(by me),and I try to bring Firfox back up..this little window comes up saying.."Firefox is already running..but it won't come up on the screen, and I have to re-start the computer. It's like Yahoo is trying to muscle in...I saw your option about have multiple home pages, but this isn't that ...uit's weird, what's going on?? Help...Herb Johnston

I don't understand what you mean with Yahoo pops up.
Is Yahoo opening in a Firefox browser window?

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If Firefox doesn't restart after you've closed Firefox and restarted Firefox then you need to check the Task Manager to see if there aren't any hanging Firefox processes as explained in the above mentioned "Hang" articles.

Try to use "Firefox/File > Exit" to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

You can also try to update to the latest Firefox 9.0.1 version and do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) to see if that helps.

Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible.

  • Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

If that didn't help then try a new profile as well.

Does it only happen if you close and restart Firefox or do you also have problems during a Firefox session? If the latter is happening then which problems do you encounter and when.

Can you explain when Yahoo pops in?
Is that when you start Firefox or when you open a new tab or window while Firefox is running?
