All I wanted was to download a Power Point reader. Instead, I got I don't know how many add-ons that I never requested and now have TWO Yahoo tool bars at the top of my Firefox browser! How do I get rid of these? I tried installing a previous version of Firefox, which didn't help at all. Apparently, Firefox can remember everything you ever did because the tool bars are still there. I am really getting pissed off about web sites loading things onto my computer without my permission. Please help, anyone!

VERY DANGEROUS as in there are KNOWN security vulnerabilities that make it highly probable your machine will become infected.

If you are not running 3.6.24 you should update ASAP. http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

If you are indeed running 3.6.8 then you ignore those instructions.

Instructions at http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/toolbar/toolbar1ff/basics/general-07.html

You may also find Yahoo toolbar listed in Add/Remove Programs.

FYI - your useragent lists you are running 3.6.8 - this is VERY DANGEROUS. You should update to 3.6.24 at least -> http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

If you are running a later version your useragent is message up. Do the following:

Type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter

If you see the warning, you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Filter = general.useragent.

Right-click the preferences that are bold, one line at a time, and select Reset.

Then restart Firefox

Sorry, I don't know who you are, so I can't address you by username. What do you mean "VERY DANGEROUS"? You make it sound like my computer is going to explode! Also what is meant by "your useragent is message up"? And why should I type "about:config" in the URL bar. Finally, what do you mean by "Filter = general.useragent". As you can probably tell, I am a beginner on terminology.

This issue is solved. I changed the version of Firefox to 3.6.24 and also replaced the profile with a previous version.
