My web-site when opened with Firefox does not display with the same (correct) formatting as in IE 8. Can you please tell me where the problem might lie? Thanks.

MS Publisher is not really sited to create web pages.
It usually generates VML code that only works in IE and not in other browser like Firefox.
You can verify that by looking at the page source (View > Page Source).

You're better off if you use an editor that generates W3C compliant HTML code.
