Back Button and Address Bar are acting strangely
Ocasionally the address bar won't show URLs when I open a single window and tab in Firefox 3.6. When I open up it goes to my homepage (iGoogle) but the address won't appear, only the greyed out 'Search History & Bookmarks' text that usually accompanies a new tab. If I visit a website by typing the URL and then navigate away from that initial page via hyperlinks or a Google toolbar search the last URL I actually typed still appears rather than the address of the site I'm on. To add to this, the back and forward navigation buttons are unusable and greyed out. It only seems to happen when I have one window and tab open and can be a bit intermittent but it's a little erksome.
Luckily I have a shortcut on my laptop's mousepad that means I can tap the top left corner to navigate back but I'd like to fix the issue. Problem is, I'm not sure what's causing it. I've downloaded a bunch of software in the last few days and don't know if one of these is causing it but it's far too many pieces of software to uninstall them all and test which it is. Am I the only one that's getting this issue and is there a known fix?
To add to this, I've just discovered that I can't close the first tab that was opened in the browser. This only occurs in the original window (opening a new window, loading 2 tabs and quitting the first loaded is a success) and I've only just noticed this as I was typing the question.

You may have a problem with the places.sqlite file, for details see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Locked_or_damaged_places.sqlite
