I cannot add any new buttons to my Firefox toolbars. I can remove buttons. I can then default the toolbar again. My Stop/Reload add-on works (Stop button and reload button act as one button, stop button is only seen when browser is loading a page). My Compact Menu 2 add-on does not work. (Changes the menu bar into one icon that has a drop menu for the relative options).

I am learning some advanced JavaScript features in the last 6 months, could I have messed up the Ubuntu installation in some way.. How can I check what part of Firefox is no longer functioning?

Look at system details to see what I tried for solution. Also, I had trouble adding an Avatar to this forum profile and I have trouble logging into this forum. I had to restart Firefox on both occasions to resolve.

I am must have some part of my Ubuntu operating system messed up and it is stopping Firefox from functioning correctly. What, in Ubuntu supports the menu button functions in Firefox, I mean what part of Ubuntu could I reinstall to see if it corrects the problem?

I have since rebuilt my Ubuntu laptop with Version 10.10 but I noticed in the Compiz Configuration Manager, under the Workarounds menu there is a new option that I did not have in 9.10. There is an workaround with a reference to Firefox menu mentioned in the workarounds name. I can't try it myself but if you have this problem with Firefox on Ubuntu then update Compiz and it's Config Manager using Synaptic Package Manager and see if you get this option in the Workarounds in the Compiz Config Manager...

Ubuntu supplies their own branded version of Firefox, so you may need to seek advice on the Ubuntu forum in case of problems with their branded Firefox version.
