I have been using Thunderbird for many years with no problems. Recently I obtained a new computer and although the main email is working fine - receiving from others/replying to that sender with my main email. However I have a secondary email address that allows me to receive emails to that address but when replying from the 2nd address it says '''''"sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtp.************.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) setting are correct and try again." I looked and the settings for my main email are: Descriptions: my email address / Server name: the same / Port: 465 / Connection security SSL/TLS / Authentication: normal password / User name: my name@etc The setting for my alternate email are: Description: blank / Server name / my email address / Port: 465 / Connection security SSL/TLS / Authenication : Normal password / User name: I put in here the alternate email address

So I'm really stuck as I need to reply to others with the same email that someone is using to send to me - all with my 2nd email address. Probably a simple answer but at the moment totally lost. Thank you. Bud

You really should share more information if you want an answer. But I'll Try. Is your alternate email id the same domain as the primary? Why not give a name to the SMTP server for uniqueness? Have you carefully reviewed to ensure that the account for each points to its separate SMTP server? Screen shots of both incoming servers and both outgoing servers may help a lot.
