I was using windows 7 but had a problem with it brought to a tech which had to reinstall the operating system on windows 7. They were able to get the data backed up from the hard drive. I am now using windows 10 with the same data back up but I had to reinstall Thunderbird. I did not back to an external hard drive what ever data the tech got he got from my hard drive. Now I am on windows 10 and had the same data back up to it. I had to reinstall Thunder bird but if they wee able to back up the data should there be an old profile somewhere that I can get all my Thunderbird contacts extensions back from.. How do I find an old profile. stored somewhere. But see if they had to do a complete e windows reinstall that means the hard drive was wiped clean i am not sure how they backed up the data can you help . I do not know where the data they back up from is stored. I no longer have the windows 7 computer . Some how when i got the new windows 10 they backed up data I have the same email address different password. Please help

Hi Mary OS is usually installed on C: drive. It is possible they put the backup on D: drive. That is assuming they backed up everything including data stored in 'AppData' (Application Data) folders. If tech blokes are worth their salt then they should have done this.

If you did upgrade then Windows may auto have created a 'windows.old' folder which is usually put on the Desktop and Windows keeps this available for about a month. The profile location would be kept the same, but stored in 'windows.old' folder.

thanks for your help i was able to get my contacts back thankfully i had copied all of them on paper and di it manually. Plus the other computer owner in the home was able to import what they had to my Thunderbird I do not see a windows old folder anywhere. I do not know how Geek Squad backs up the data. I had given them my external hard drive with the latest back up on it from acronis but somehow it got messed up and so they could not do it. Now I do not now if windows old is some where on the windows 7 computer
