Missing notification sounds in chat function

I recently tried to use the chat function for my IRC accout. As you can see in the picture attached below, all settings are properly set.

The problem is: Even if I receive messages, there won't be any notifications.

I am using Thunderbird 60.0 (64-bit) on a 4.18.5-arch1-1-ARCH. Any suggestions?

have you tried a restart with add-ons disabled? (help menu) often weird little issues are caused by add-ons that are installed or themes. Being on Linux means both could be packaged with your distribution version. Maintainers usually customize a distro version in some way or another, so it is a good place to start.
