I created a lot of subfolders in Tbird email. I can't see them today
I used to use Outlook but it started to cause big problems. I have switched to Thunderbird and recently updated it. It has been fine until today I think. For no explicable reason, I cannot see my sub folders in my inbox. I have hundreds of important emails in them and trying to search for them does not work. What has gone wrong?
Using the troubleshooter I copied to the clipboard as follows.

Check you have the setting: 'Menu icon (3 lines) > Folders > 'All'
check you have subscribed to see them:
- Right click on imap mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Subscribe'
- select the folders and click on 'Subscribe'
- click on OK
Hello Toad Hall. I followed your instructions. I subscribed to the default email I use and I saw a change. I immediately saw my Jazz folder that I move messages to almost every day for the last 7 months. It has brought back only January's emails. I have folders for Car & Astronomy plus aboiut 10 others which I also have a large number of important messages in but I cannot see them at all. I did reindex my email address as it suggested it when I could not see the contents I was looking for. Am I supposed to reindex each individual folder?? When I could not find the emails I wanted, I looked for a back up from 3 months ago. I then added the profile to the directory C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Thunderbird/Pofiles. I copied the profile that it was using to old..... This made no difference. I have just copied the old.... without old in the name back to the profile directory. Unfortunately I cannot re start Thunderbird as i may have missed a full stop in the edit. this is what I have.

Your path doesn't look right.
Here is mine:
Path=Profiles/suqvtgqy.test
It is a pathname to a subfolder of a folder named Profiles, hence the slash.
You will need to check the actual name; they usually have a string of randomly chosen characters followed by ".default". The example above is not my main profile, but probably one I created for testing purposes.
I agree with Zenos suggest you edit the path line to say the following.
Path=Profiles/5m9d6oxr.default
Hi Toad Hall In Thunderbird [General] StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles5m9d6oxr Default=1
In the root Roaming\Thunderbird, there are two profiles. One is a directory and the other is the configuration settings (ini) Roaming\Thunderbird|Profiles there are 2 profiles. One is 5m9d6oxr and the other the one that was working partly until I remmaned it is olderx7h7dsuy.default . Thunderbird says your thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible. I have typed it exactly as you have in the above So is it as you have above or do I need slashes and full stops.This is very perplexing.
Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles folder should contain the profiles. a 'profile name' folder should not be edited or renamed.
profile name folder called : 'olderx7h7dsuy.default' Perhaps this was originally called 'x7h7dsuy.default' Please rename this folder to the original as shown above.
Then please post an image showing what you have in the Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles folder.
Which of the 'profile name' folders is the one you want to use or do you need both?
Although I both Zenos and I have already told you what the profiles.ini file 'Path' should look like, but the info you posted does not appear to look like you have followed instructions as yet.
If you're correct that the profile's folder is named 5m9d6oxr (they do usually have a .default "extension") then it needs, we think, to look like this:
[General] StartWithLastProfile=1
[Profile0] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=Profiles/5m9d6oxr Default=1
I tried with the profile exactly as you specified including the line Path=Profiles/5m9d6oxr It is telling me that "Your Thunderbird profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessable"
I re copied the profile dated July 17th from my backup HDdrive. I actually over wrote the profile.default in the Appdata/Roaminng/Thunderbird folder with the same name. I also clicked on the Proflie s sub folder and copied over the profile.default with the same name. So why can't it see the default profile?
It is usual for default profiles to have the .default
suggest you edit the path line to say the following. Path=Profiles/5m9d6oxr.default
