Why is Thunderbird loosing the charset instruction when an attachment is deleted?
I have received an e-mail with an attachment. I then extracted the attachment and delete the attachment only. The "Content-Type: text/html; charset=windows-1252" stays but the meta tag in the HTML body is changes form <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"> to <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; "> As a result all mutated vowels like ö, ä or ü are wrong in the HTML body and in th HTML view of the email.
I am using Thunderbird 52.9.0.
Thanks for s short answer in advance.
Salut,
Mathias

Mathias,
We'd like to confirm the problem is gone fr you with 52.9.1. Can you quickly try a candidate build and test against a copy of a message, and post your results ? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/candidates/52.9.1-candidates/build3/

I could not add the screenshot of Beyond Compare when I posted the original question. So I have added it via this "reply". Salut, Mathias
It is a bug in 52.9. Go back to 52.8 until it is fixed.
Thanks, Airmail. Got version 52.8.0 installed and disabled automatic updating. All fine for the moment. :-) Salut, Mathias

Hello Wayne, Thanks for your reply. It is indeed working in version 52.9.1 (see attached screenshot). The content attribute in the meta tag still looses its charset value but the mutated vowels like ö, ä or ü are still okay. Thanks a lot for your efforts. Salut, Mathias
Excellent. Thanks for reporting the problem, and testing the fix
