Hi, I use several e-mail addresses in Thunderbird. When replying or forwarding a message, I would like to use the address to which the original message was sent as sender address. Is there a way to have the correct e-mail AUTOMATICALLY selected? It happens very often that I forget to select the correct sender address myself, so it would be very helpful if the receiver address of the original message would be at least pre-selected. Do you understand the question? I'd appreciate hearing from you. Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Fabian

The funny thing is that what you ask for is what is supposed to happen automatically.

However the fact that this doesn't always work as intended is betrayed by there being many add-ons which are designed to help the user select the right "from:" address.

I actually use three of these.

Folder Account helps with automatically using the required address when writing a new message. This is useful with Saved Search folders, or other account-agnostic folders under Local Folders, where a single default address is just too imprecise.

Correct Identity works by using rules to select an identity based on addresses found in the message. So this will act on who the message is from, or who it is to, and works for replies and forwards.

Identity Chooser offers colour coding to give a visual warning, and can deprecate selected addresses.

Hi Zenos, Thanks a lot! The Folder Account add-on doesn't seem something I'm looking for. But the other two add-ons are really helpful! Kind regards, Fabian
