Have some script which has hijacked my 'new tab' and drives it to Yahoo Search against my 'home page' choice?

Running Mac OSX 10.10.5 and Firefox 55.0.3 (64 bit). Some script hijacks 'new tab' and drives to Yahoo Search page. Seriously frustrating.

Maybe you installed it with a program if so go on control panel and then add remove programs and uninstall it, if not then re install browser again! It's unusual though because browser will normally say if it's been hijacked when you started it.

There isn't a 'control panel' on a Mac. Other thoughts?

The most common way your new tab page is hijacked is an extension. You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Command+Shift+a (Windows: Ctrl+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Some Legacy extensions did not become effectively disabled until you quit/restart Firefox. In that case, Firefox will display a link to do that.

Any improvement?
