Subscribe applies to IMAP accounts and means to download a folder that is defined on the IMAP server. POP accounts don't have the feature because only the Inbox is downloaded.

Ty. You have been very helpful tonight. I am new to t-bird, new to win10 (from vista and win mail) so it's been a big transition. I don't like having 4 or 5 different inboxes, so I think I finally managed to get everything to migrate into one specific inbox. Now I just need to figure out if I can put all trash into one trash folder. I think I have the sent and draft going that way.
