I have been copying the emails I would like to keep to a local folder. I then delete the isp imp server copy. Sometimes the local copy appears to be deleted at a later time? I see a blank email in the local folder with nothing but a date and time left where the local email was. It seems if I copy the email to my local copy and wait a day or two and then delete the server copy it stays where I copied it. I am not sure about this as I cannot duplicate the local email corruption. I say corruption because there is a blank line with the date and time when I copied the email in that folder.

The imap deletion is unrelated to the local folder. Your results indicate the copy to the local folder didn't completely finish at the time the copy was made. See if the problem reproduces with Thunderbird in safe mode https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode-thunderbird
