Considering changing to Mozilla.

If I use lightning with Thunderbird will I be able to search the calendar for events e.g. "Fred's birthday"

Press Alt or F10 to bring up the menu bar in case it's hidden.

Events and Tasks (Alt-N) - check 'Find Events'
