Hi, Firefox crashed several times in the last days when I was working in the TYPO3 backend. Usually it crashes after 5-10 minutes when I click on a link. Here are the links to the last crash reports. Can anyone help? Do you need more information? https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-4ca992c5-5658-42bd-bb21-aaaba2151117 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-0e27265b-7c45-4241-82f9-077772151117 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-917d2763-40cd-4196-b2f1-e8c802151117 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-a1665a5d-2b13-45a5-a82c-8dd5b2151116 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-5f62bd09-0eed-4b32-884b-31d282151113 https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/bp-94d0fdb7-09ab-4085-9527-61dfe2151113

Sorry to hear about the crashes and thank you for the reports. Three were incomplete, but three pointed to a problem with OpenGL graphics.

It is my understanding that you would get the latest version of the AMD/ATI graphics drivers from Apple.

If you already have those, then perhaps there is a workaround by turning off some preferences in Firefox, but due to differences between Windows and Mac, I'm not sure which ones would be best to try.

As a starting point, could you test in Firefox's Safe Mode? In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the option key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)

Hi jscher2000,

first of all: Thanks very much for your reply and your help! Sorry about the incomplete crash reports. As I stated in my question, Firefox crashed quite a few times in the last weeks. If you need more reports, just let me know and I will post more links to crash reports here. I'm not sure about the driver. Usually drivers (and updates) are installed automatically on a mac (at least as far as I know). I installed all available software updates via the integrated update function on my mac. I will use the safe mode in the next days and monitor if Firefox crashes anyway. I will get back to you in the next days.
