Offensive popup tells me I need media player update but update not compatible with my Mac OS 10 so how do I block this popup?

more options

I downloaded the update but installer says it won't work with my OS. It pops up continually and it's very annoying. How do I stop it? Block popups is selected in my preferences.

Unfortunately, at some point you installed the MediaPlayer extension, possibly as part of a free download of something else.

Please remove that one, and disable ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Cmd+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side and, if in doubt, disable (or remove). Bear in mind that all extensions are optional and none are included with Firefox when you first get it.

Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that fix it?
