Clicking on links is sending me to the wrong url due to additional characters being added such as %2F
For example, http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/34389232 becomes http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/%2Fsport%2F0%2Fformula1%2F34389232. Selecting the first link for Firefox from google gives https://www.google.com/https%3A%2F%2Fwww.mozilla.org%2Fen-US%2Ffirefox%2Fnew%2F instead of https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/.
If I open the link in a new tab the url is correct. The problem doesn't occur in every site but it seems to be the majority.

Are you using bookmarks? Create new ones to replace the current.
Note: some characters, like spaces, can not be used in web addresses. So those are replaced with code.
I'm not selecting bookmarks. I'm clicking on links on webpages. If I select a bookmark pages open ok. If I click on a link within a page I get an error (because the additional characters have been added to the URL) but if I right click and open in a new tab the correct URL is opened.
As it happens I no longer have the problem. It seems to have fixed itself. However this is the second time its happened and it would be good to understand the cause. The first time it happened it was several days before the problem disappeared.
