Can't create new Event, Delete an Event or Dismiss Reminders
Using TB 38.1.0 in Windows 7 Synced with a Google calendar using ICAL (private address).
All of the events are shown. Right-clicking an event brings up a menu in which the following are greyed out: New Event, New Task, Cut, Paste, Delete Event
The error console reports:
Timestamp: Sat 18/07/2015 16:51:47 Error: uncaught exception: 2152333314
Timestamp: Sat 18/07/2015 16:51:47 Error: : <error>'<error>' when calling method: [calICalendar::modifyItem] Source File: resource://calendar/modules/calUtils.jsm -> file:///C:/Users/...../calendar-js/calCachedCalendar.js Line: 724
Help would be much appreciated

Maybe you're using one of the read-only addresses for your calendar? Google doesn't make it obvious enough that some of the access methods don't enable editing your calendar from their side.
Address like https://apidata.googleusercontent.com/caldav/v2/[email protected]/events should work when you set it up as a network calendar using CalDAV in Lightning.
Or you could use Provider for Google Calendar addon which makes setting up Google calendars easier.

If caching is enabled, have you tried disabling the cache, enabling it again (in calendar properties) and refreshing the calendar?
Thanks for your reply, Merike.
I cannot find caching. I tried Edit > Calendar properties but the cache is not shown
Also Tools > Options > Advanced > Network & Disk Space - I set 0MB for the cache and cleared the cache. Then restarted Thunderbird.
I also removed Lightning and reinstalled it.
I still have the problem - can you suggest anything else?

CalDAV worked - thank you very much Merike
