I am moving from windows 7 to windows 7. Installed the same version of Thunderbird on the new machine. Used easy transfer to transfer the profile folder from old machine (roaming) to new machine. Ran thunderbird and it showed like it was a clean install. Tried unistalling and re-installing, then tried copy contents of my default profile into the default folder it created. Still showed no accounts. Tried unstallling again and reinstalling. Tried adding my old profile folder to the new machine and using profile manager (via thunderbird.exe -ProfileManager) to select my new profile but it doesn't show (only shows one). Tried renaming it. no good. Tried creating a new profile using profile manager and copying my old profile contents into the new folder (less times.json), no good. I tried editing profile.ini, still no good.

I tried creating a new email account, it was created in my old profile so clearly it is looking in the right place, just not reading any of my old profile. Is there some sort of file that needs to be blown away or edited so it sees my existing accounts and address book?

Help (Alt-H) - Troubleshooting Information - Profile Folder - Open Folder What is the profile folder path you're currently using? Which profile is that - the one newly created, or the one copied over from the old machine?

Can you post the contents of profiles.ini?

Have you made any changes to the 'Local Directory' setting on the old machine?
