Why does an Error with my account keep popping up every time I switch on Thunderbird?

Every time I switch on Thunderbird to access e-mails, an Error Box pops up. It says there is an error with my account & I have to wait for this to be processed before I can access my e-mails. What is this problem? I'm also rather frustrated with all the Thunderbird anniversary info that blocks my view of e-mails. How can I delete this?

You do not say what the error is and no reason to start guessing.

As for the Thunderbird start page displaying, go into Options and turn it off. From the Menu Bar select Tools-Options-General Remove the check for the Start Page.
