I have no idea how the hell this virus has gotten into my FF, but the fact is I cannot get rid of it. Here are the steps I've tried:

1. Uninstall FF completely. 2. Removed Mozilla and Firefox directories throughout the system. 3. Removed all Mozilla and Firefox registry keys. 4. Reinstall fresh. Virus still there.

5. Repeated steps 1-4. 6. Ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free. 7. It detected and removed the malware. 8. Rebooted. 9. Ran FF. Virus still there.

I've also tried 'deeply' removing FF using Revo Uninstaller. No luck. Virus still there.

Scanned system using nod32 completely. It didn't even detect it.

I am at my wit's end. How to remove the virus? At this point, I'm even contemplating a format windows and clean install. But that means wasting 2-3 days in reinstalling and setting up everything from scratch.

Interestingly, this virus affects only Firefox.. IE and Chrome run fine. But my suspicion is the virus must be using bandwidth in the background, or may even download and install other malware and virii.

Any suggestions?

Please try resetting Firefox. Instructions are in this article - Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Let me know how that goes,
Michael
