I have an older ACER Laptop, AMD Turion 64 ML-30, 2 MB RAM, WinXP. I have used Netscape with no problems. FF was fine until all the frequent upgrades started. FF is getting SLOWER & SLOWER & SLOWER to load pages. I have NO PROBLEMS using Chrome or IE. I have tried using Safe Mode, NO CHANGE. WHY? How can I fix this? I have been a devoted user from Netscape days, but I am getting very frustrated and upset with FF. I waste so much time waiting for a page to load. I have to stop the loading, wait 5 sec, click Reload and the page starts to load a little faster. How do I fix this? If you can not fix this for me, I will either go back to a much older version of FF or switch to Chrome. Please HELP!!

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
