Firefox has been running very slowly on my Mac (version 10.6.8). Very, very slowly. Plus whenever I log on I get a "403 forbidden" message for my favorite websites, my email, etc. How do I fix this?

I tried opening Firefox without add-ons and that didn't help at all.

I also uninstalled MacKeeper, but that didn't help either.

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

I clicked on the "Mark as Solved" button and got an error message. "Page Not Found"

Glad it was fixed and thanks for posting back. As a moderator I am able to mark the thread as solved. I did do then undid the action again.

I just thought I would ask did you try to mark this as solved from the Forum or from the email you received. I am asking because I do not see the emails, and if there is a fault in the emails we will need to look into that. I have not personally seen others reporting any problem with this.

John, I used the button again and -- again -- I got an error message.

I have marked the thread as solved now. Let's just hope that's a one off problem.
