Am unable to use the virtual scroll utility (Synaptics v17.0.19) on Mozilla's web pages. It works fine in IE8, Word, PDFs, but not Mozilla.
My machine is a HP laptop (ze4600us) running OS Windows XP3, & Mozilla 26.0. Updating the drivers for Synaptics, re-installing Mozilla, downloading updates from MS & re-starting the computer hasn't done the trick... It seems others in this community are having the same issue. Any workable answers?

Hi JonLA,
Thank you for contacting support. I am a little new to Synaptics, but it looks like the one thing I did not see mentioned was the removal of the old drivers for the virtual scrolling? To make sure the old registry keys are uninstalled please check the control panel and search for uninstall programs or through " via the menu that opens from the "Synaptic Touchpad" line in your computer's devices manager."
It is possible to create a new profile in Firefox to make sure that the profile or any add ons are preventing the driver change if removing the old driver does not help.
Please post back to let us know if this helped, we look forward to your reply.
Hi guigs2, thank you for taking the time to respond. I did uninstall the Synaptics driver using the Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs" feature, then updated it by going to Synaptics' site. As I mentioned it is working with all other applications except FireFox. So it seems I would need to create a new profile in Firefox but don't know how to do this... If you have more suggestions I'd be most intetested.
Try to modify the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled pref on the about:config page from the default value -1 to 0 or 1 to see if that makes the touch pad work better.
Close and restart Firefox after changing the ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled pref.
ui.trackpoint_hack.enabled (-1)(-1:autodetect;0:off;1:on)
You can open the about:config page via the location bar.

If cor-el's change works please ignore this, but if you would like to know how to create a new profile it can be done in the cmd window if you do not have the Profile Manager pop up automatically when you open Firefox. Profile Manager - Create, remove or switch Firefox profiles Cheers
