Firefox 19.0 is not working correctly
I had been running Firefox 18.0.1 with no problems whatsoever. I then upgraded to Firefox 19.0 and was very unhappy. My system would no longer open to a designated Home Page even though one was set properly. With version 19.0 everytime I open Firefox it opens to a blank page with the tab titled New Tab. When I set my View to show my Bookmarks in the Sidebar they do show but when I restart Firefox 19.0 the Bookmarks are no longer showing in the Sidebar - I have to go back to View and reselect them - I have to do this everytime! Webpage links no longer work properly. The only way I can get a webpage link to open is to right click on it and ask for it to open in a New Tab. They used to open automatically by double clicking on them. I haven't been able to check all my add-ons yet but at least one of them is no longer working despite it showing in the list of add-ons as being OK. ColorfulTabs 17.7 is the one I am referring to now. I have reverted back to Firefox 18.0.1 and things are working properly with it but I would like to be current with all Firefox updates but am not prepared to go with 19.0 until these issues are resolved.

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.
Thanks Tyler - that worked. I did have to reinstall my add-ons after doing the reset but that was no big deal!
My problem is probably in the same boat, but is different and stranger.
Three steps.
1. Firefox asks me to update to 19.0. I say Yes. It says update failed. This has happened before, so I do what I always do: 2. Download FF 19.00, install it. It upgrades. Starts FF. 3. FF home page comes up. I can click on my links, all work. I can go to History and click on links there, all is well. I can click a link to google.ca and search there. I can do the same on google.ca and google.fr. BUT
- I cannot search in the google bar on the FF home page (neither in the middle of the page, nor on top right), and
- I cannot get to any webpage by typing it in and pressing enter or clicking on the connect arrow, and - I cannot get to any webpage by going down the recent history (arrow beside the connect arrow) and clicking on it.
Any idea what is going on? If not: where can I find the previous version of FF?
Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I very much doubt (but will try) that your suggestions will help. After all, the problem ONLY exists on the Mozilla homepage, I can search and connect to websites by clicking on them.
If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
- Open the about:config page via the location bar
- Type in the Filter bar: mstone
- Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
- Close and restart Firefox
If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.
