MAC 10.8 - Firefox Crashes Often
I have completely removed Firefox 17.0.1, deleted my profile (firefox), reset firefox using the troubleshooting menu. But the issue continues, it is random and cannot find a certain task that causes the issue. Currently i also cannot access the preferences menu as this will cause firefox to crash. Been dealing with this for sometime and finally giving up. Only thing that I was trying to change was the home page.

Possibly related to iA Writer (that is the only thing I see with a Google search for iA and Mac that seems related).
I'm not on a Mac, but I've seen this crash signature before if I remember correctly (found it here: [/questions/925800], but no solution)

The crashes are in an iA application.
If you have such a program on your Mac then try to uninstall it.

Sorry, new to Apple products... So what do you mean by iA application? Like iA writer or something?

Found SpectorSoft was still installed from us testing a few months ago. Found that i lived in /usr/local/sps renamed the folder and killed the spsecure service. Be sure to rename to the folder first then kill the service, as the system will crash if done in the other order.
I have updated firefox, I have removed firefox and started over, and it still freezes. After trying several solutions found on the internet I have turned to other browsers as my solution. I have had firefox from it's beginnings, and only recently have I had issues with freezing for no reason. My issues started a year ago with an update for firefox that was flawed. Since this time nothing has worked, unchecked accelerate, removed profile, removal and re-installation. Firefox needs to be fixed by mozilla.
Hi lanefree
Can you please start a new thread for your question?
Then you can provide more information like your operating system and installed extensions and installed plugins.
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
