Firefox 95.x Crashes Immediately in Google Street View, Facebook 3D Photos

Greetings,

For a few months I've been experiencing consistent crashing in Firefox 95.x versions. At first the crashing happened "randomly" while browsing Facebook, but I eventually identified a pattern and learned that the crashes would happen when a Facebook 3D photo attempted to render in the feed.

Since then, I'm able to consistently reproduce the same crashing issue by opening Google Maps and launching street view. The crash happens immediately when street view attempts to load (unsuccessfully). This happens even with all plugins disabled.

Unfortunately I've had to failover to Google Chrome due to the stability issues in Firefox, though I would like to return to Firefox if this issue can be resolved. The issue does not present itself in other browsers.

I'm currently on Firefox v95.0.1 64-bit on MacOS Catalina 10.15.7, and my GPU is an integrated Intel HD Graphics 4000 1536 MB with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M.

Thanks for your support.

If you haven't already, could you try disabling Firefox from using hardware acceleration? This is a potential workaround for incompatibilities between Firefox and your graphics card/chipset driver software. This article describes where to make that change: Firefox's performance settings. This will take effect the next time you exit Firefox and start it up again. Any difference?

Since hardware acceleration improves the appearance of fonts and animations, you may want to check whether graphics card/chipset driver updates are available for your system. This article suggests safe ways to do that, although Apple might have more restricted update channels: Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL.

I just tried disabling hardware acceleration, but unfortunately the issue persists. Also, as you pointed out, the ability to update graphics drivers on Apple hardware is extremely limited, so I'm not sure that's a viable option either.

I'm experiencing this issue on a Mac that is fully up-to-date. I don't believe I can update the graphics drivers specifically on Apple hardware unless the update is pushed by Apple. I did try disabling hardware acceleration as was suggested by jscher2000, but unfortunately the issue persists.

This could be a problem with WebGL, so maybe check the graphics section on the "Help -> More Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page.
