My email writer thinks I'm French

Whilst the French dictionary has been in my Thunderbird for some time, my message writer now comes up with tool bars in French and auto spell check set to French. (It may have been sending spurious 'in the spam box' messages after emails are sent to me too but I'm not sure about that) Spell check change back to English is easy but when I go to Preferences to sort out the issue I get 'Not Responding' and then a crash. I have version 91.2.0 (32 bit) so it tells me... Any clues? Thanks DB

It appears you have the French language pack installed, the extension that makes the menus and toolbars in French (separate from the French dictionary). Language packs are known to crash TB 91, so open Tools/Add-ons & Themes and remove any language packs.

Hi sfhowes and thanks for taking the time... Tools/Add ons and themes/Languages showed no language package other than Eng GB. Removed the French Dictionary anyway (I'd only needed it for a few emails a while back...) but, as you implied, made no difference. Any attempt to open the 'cog wheel' preferences leads to a crash and the email writer toolbar is still the French version. It may be coincidence but this started going odd after I had had to sign in to 2 MS share points... It was quite a palaver migrating from Outlook when I got this W10 machine so I am loath to un/re-install... Any suggestions gratefully received! DB

Uninstall the TB program that appears in French and download and run the installer for an English version. This won't affect your data in the profile folder.
