I use Windows 10 and I've updated it to the latest version. Still having the same problem. Restarting my computer will let images load normally, but it only lasts a minute or two. Then I just keep getting the "Contains errors" message every time.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.

I've been using a VPN for over a year now, but otherwise I don't use any other kind of antivirus beyond Windows Defender, which I regularly update. I've tried rebooting with the VPN off but that doesn't make a difference.

At first it was working fine, but then I started noticing that every time I clicked on "Open Image in New Tab," I would get the message: "The image _______ cannot be displayed because it contains errors."

The URL is what it's supposed to be, that never changes. But instead of an image it's just a blank page with the "contains errors" text at the top.

Could you investigate a bit this way:

To open the Network Monitor in the lower part of the tab, you can use either:

• (Windows) Ctrl+Shift+e
• "3-bar" menu button > Web Developer > Web Developer Tools, click the Network tab
• (menu bar) Tools > Browser Tools > Web Developer Tools, click the Network tab

Then reload the image bypassing the cache -- either:

• Shift+click the Reload button
• Ctrl+F5
• Ctrl+Shift+R

If the image is still corrupted, click the request and check the pane on the right. Change to the Response section and if the preview is nonsensical, click the Raw button to look at the underlying data. Does it look like binary (gibberish) or some kind of text?

Thanks for the suggestion! Took me a little bit to figure out the panel since I've never used that before. So! I looked at Response, and I see a normal preview of the image. I don't see any "Raw" button. No gibberish. So I assume that means everything's technically normal. I also incidentally discovered that right-clicking on the "because it contains errors" text and clicking "Reload image" sometimes makes it load normally. But it doesn't work every time. I talked to a friend of mine who uses Firefox on a Mac, and he's also been having the same issue. So I think it's probably some kind of bug with Firefox. Not sure what else to do except hope it gets patched out?
