Thunderbird has several problems: 1. As I type email addresses, Thunderbird hangs (Not responsive) and then eventually comes back on line. 2.) Calendars are not syncing or set up correctly with Gmail Calendar 3.) Event Invites do not associate with email accounts.

I have tried many many different option configurations, re-installs, set ups and modifications and I am ready to migrate to windows outlook - yes I am that desperate. Pat

In Options/Composition/Addressing, do you have Directory Server checked, i.e. autocomplete is trying to read LDAP address books? If not, does autocomplete hang in TB safe mode (Help/Restart with...)?

How are you managing network calendars? Have you tried it with TbSync? What's the authentication on the gmail accounts, normal password or OAuth2?

more options

Directory Server is unchecked

TB Sync will not load - "is not verified" gmail accounts -I don't know where this is and how this is set up. I am assuming normal password.

See these instructions for installing add-ons:

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/installing-addon-thunderbird

Authentication is under Server Settings for the account in Tools/Account Settings, and Outgoing Server (SMTP).

Change the incoming and outgoing authentication to OAuth2, delete passwords in Options/Security/Passwords/Saved Passwords, enable cookies in TB Options/Privacy, then restart TB and enter the account password in the OAuth browser window when prompted. That might also fix your Google calendar sync.

I did the above. no solutions. I am still having no response when creating an email and I still can't create or modify an event on the TB calendar for these accounts.

And I now I have a new issues... 1.) and older gmail account is trying to authorize and I can't find where TB is pulling this from. 2.) My pop account isn't working. I tried switching authorization back to normal password, but it is having a hard time. Frustrating waste of time. I feel like I am in the rabbit hole.

I am now seeing a reoccurring authentication request. (A pop-up) and its for an old gmail account....When I right click on the inbox of my gmail account, it generates this pop-up window to connect to the old email (IMAP). I see that this is in the properties of the TB account when I right click on it, but for the life of me I can't find where this is stored or how to change it to the correct email (address) account. In order for us to better investigate this issue, we'll need some more information.

Could you please do the following:

  1. Open the menu Fx57Menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information, then click Copy text to Clipboard.
  2. Go to https://pastebin.com and paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page, then copy the resulting URL.
  3. Open a reply to this post, and paste the link to your troubleshooting information.

It's no wonder you have calendar problems, since you are on 78b1, and none of your many calendar add-ons are compatible with that version. Same for the contacts add-ons, which might explain the hang when you type an address. The crash report points to an issue with the Radeon driver.

If you want a stable setup, I recommend you run the latest release, 68. TB 78 won't be ready for wide usage until at least September, and even then expect many add-ons and features to still not work.

I was on 68 and it wasn't working. I tried 77 to see if this would help. Is there a way to transition back to 68 without loosing all of the personal profile information?

more options

You can try launching the Profile Manager in 68 by starting from the command line (Win+R) with these switches, e.g. thunderbird.exe -p --allow-downgrade and select the profile that was used by 78, but the best method is to create a new profile with 68, add your accounts, and manually transfer the local mail and address books from the old profile. Check that an add-on is compatible with 68 before installing it. Add the accounts and calendars one-at-a-time and test the stability.

reloaded TB 68 set up email accounts manually one-by-one set up the two imap calendars manually

same issues as before.

Did you add the calendars with CalDAV? I don't see any calendar-syncing add-ons.

more options

I added the calendars via iCal.

I can delete these and add them via CalDav. Do you have a add-on that I should include as well? Pat

more options

If CalDAV works, try it. There are a few add-ons for network calendars, such as TbSync.

Done. Now I don't see any calendar events. It doesn't even sync. What am I not doing correct? https://pastebin.com/6SWK6759

The new calendars are off (grayed out). I try to turn them on, but that does work, they go right back to 'off' (grayed out).

more options

Successful: I loaded the TB Sync Add-On. I added calendars Then "Tools /Add-On Options/TB Sync" -Account Settings Tab; Account Actions drop down

-Add New Account "Google..." for the gmail accounts)"
-Select the Calendar(s) that you want to sync.
 -"Synchronize now"

exit wait for calendars to populate. test calendar events (create, move delete) test calendar invites (create an event, invite and see if you can "accept" the event. It should populate the correct calendar associated with the invite email address. NOTE: - This worked for 1 gmail address. The 2nd gmail address cancels the invitation automatically (and sends out the canceled email immediately). I can still look in the details and accept bu the event has already been canceled...
