Wingdings font family does not seem to work on Firefox
Observed that "Wingdings" font family does not seem to work on Firefox. We checked in Mozilla Firefox forums, got one old forum thread (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=571812) and mentioned that this is by design of Firefox. Is this statement still valid? Any work around?

Hi, yes that would be correct.
Mozillazine is not part of Mozilla but a independent Mozilla community and advocacy site.
As far as I can tell is still in effect as have seen this asked before. Nothing that would work in Extensions either but 1 might, but says it is also restricted. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/refont/
Can you elaborate on why firefox is doesn't support "Wingdings" font family? As I see other browsers like Chrome, IE are supporting "Wingdings" font family. We need to give explanation to our users why they can't load "Wingdings" fonts. Is this documented any where?
There are Unicode replacements for these glyphs that should work on all platforms.
