A webpage is in my screen that I can't delete when Firefox closes and I reopen, it is still there. How do I kill it?

Hi Lesterallen,

When you close Firefox using the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and restart Firefox - is that page still there  ?

If the answer is "Yes" - could you possibly provide a screenshot of
this page  ?

If you need help to create a screenshot, please see :

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box.

This sounds like a locking webpage.

A way out of the trap is to (force it if needed) Close Firefox. Wait about 20 seconds for Firefox to finish closing. Right-click on the Firefox icon and select Open New Window. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Sometimes this works. If it opens, close it by Menu > File > Exit. This will flush out that web page from the Session Store.

Thanks much, learned a lot!

Is your problem solved?

Note that such issues can be caused by a problem with the sessionstore files and Firefox tries to reload the previous session automatically.

Use one of these to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the Firefox title bar to make sure Firefox closes properly.

  • "3-bar" menu button -> Exit (Power button)
  • Windows: File -> Exit
  • Mac: Firefox -> Quit Firefox
  • Linux: File -> Quit

I noticed that you marked my post as Chosen Solution - that must be a mistake, as I can't imagine that my post solved your problem ....

You can rectify that by clicking on the 'Undo' button to the right of that post.
